I booked this hotel because I saw it was top-rated for solo travelers, and close to the tube. I can’t recommend it enough especially if you’re a woman traveling alone. The Grand Royale always felt extremely safe, clean, and hospitable. The young men that worked as bellhops/assistant were so attentive and helpful. I was so thankful that they actually brought my bags to my room, as I had arrived early and left them in luggage storage. Breakfast was okay. The entry, lobby, and breakfast room are gorgeous! The rooms are a bit small if you’re used to more of the American sized hotel room, but it felt cozy and I was only there to sleep and shower. Also, hotel rooms in Europe tend to be smaller. I booked the twin single and ended up on the 8th floor with an AMAZING view of London, all for a very reasonable fee. There are 2 tube stations nearby (Queensway and Bayswater). They can get you anywhere you need to go and they’re seriously a 2-3 min walk away.

The room I booked was a little small as we’d traveled from a week in Rome we had lots of luggage. The lovely lady on reception called our room minutes after giving us the key, to see if we were happy. I explained with all the luggage the room felt small. She instantly upgraded us to a larger room at no extra cost! The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and the breakfast was amazing, so much choice! Every member of staff we met were so friendly and helpful, particularly at breakfast being gluten free. We will be back as this is a little gem of a place in a perfect location!

Fantastic location close to Notting Hill, Hyde Park, underground stations, many restaurants and so on. The room was tiny but comfortable and enough to have a good night's sleep at the end of a long day, although not necessarily comfortable to spend a lot of time in it. Even though the room was quite small, it was still alright if you don't have oversized luggage. The breakfast was of medium quality but the staff made up for the lack of quality and variety, especially the two Romanian sisters who were both lovely. The common areas were stunning and screamed old luxury.

Absolutely in love with the decor , shiny chandeliers , dark wood panels and history of the hotel , my friend and I were so excited to be staying , entering the main door into the beautiful foyer was amazing but, the receptionist welcome brought us down with a bump , no welcoming smile in fact , quite hostile towards us, demanded my details and sent us on our way, she definitely needs some training skills, this review would be glowing if she hadn't made us feel so awful in arrival (stayed 9th- 11th October ) 4pm check in approx .

Location of hotel was great. On the edge of Hyde Park and Queensway tube station in next street.Great location for exploring Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, Science museum, Victoria and Albert museum and Natural History museum. Hotel very interesting with painted ceilings, stained glass and ornate stairway. Quiet neighbourhood so slept well at night. Room very compact but adequate for our 3 night stay. Clean, tidy and toiletries, water, and fruit supplied in room. Staff very polite and helpful.
